about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

08080 – Astro Disco

08080 – Astro Disco
[KAM054]

08080

“Astro Disco”

08080 (Jure Anžiček) moves us into an extraterrestrial discotheque with a simple decision to emphasize the linear composition of individual pieces of this short and thematically rounded discographic debut.

Marked by the schism of the memory of high-energy rave vibes and the melancholy intoxication of the fullness of sound (a duality that is most likely a result of the unusual times in which this collection was created), the tracks seep through us as a string of five turbulent inquiries into how to expand both the composition and the sound arena. And while the sequence loop and/or the drone still run the show, their complaisance to the prescribed topos is nevertheless surrendered to the sovereignty of the wider musical dictum.

If the album is above all a meditation on the sound material, always fresh camouflages of already built vocabularies and their new permutations through dispersal across the sound space, 08080’s debut is convincing chiefly because of the reflection on the form of both the elements and the whole, which invite to attentive listening rather than to the dancefloor.

Whether it is the introductory manipulation of the texture, the chopped up synth grooves or the emergence of a noise bass theme, this is true also when we let ourselves move to the march that very early on immerses us into a morning club ecstasy only to thwart the new dopamine rush at the repeated command and shift us towards the calmer sound of the acoustic guitar. Astro Disco leaves us pinned to an unsafe ground, calling to joy and reflections, with which the Earth will – accompanied by 08080’s thick bass frequencies – dance with the stars night and day.

4T Thieves – Fame Is An Addiction

4T Thieves – Fame Is An Addiction
[mhrk280]

4T Thieves

“Fame Is An Addiction”

“Fame is an Addiction” sounds like a cassette you found while walking on the beach, half burried in the sand, case slightly warped by the heat of the sun, little pebbles and bits of seashells embedded inside, tape loose and almost melted. You rescue it, clean it up, spool it in, and when you play it you discover that the noise of the sea waves somehow got imprinted onto it and melded with the music.

Every tune is deep within its own comfortable bed of noise, each sound treading through thick viscous aural quicksand, beats pop in from behind lush canopies of strings and pads, flocks of melodies swirl above, clouds of frequencies cast their shadows on top of everything else and the place becomes that bit cooler. Every tune does paint a scenery indeed, each is really alike a place you inhabit for a few minutes. They all feel tangible and expansive, they welcome roaming and exploration, so much is happening there, so much to see/hear/feel, so much to discover each time you return.

It all sounds old and fresh, damaged yet fully contained, at the verge of collapse yet tightly controlled. There is certainly a story being told in this music, but it’s a different story for each different listener. It’s the kind of music that burrows in and pulls out of you as much as it brings and it’s that mix of the internal and the external, right here and right now, that makes it an entirely personal experience.

David Gotham, Bon-Psy

“Enter, The Holy Divine (Part I) (Bon-Psy Remix)”

Bon-Psy provides a contrasting take on David Gothams Enter, The Holy Divine (Part I) in spectacular fashion.

The dark but moving original is transformed into the grooviest version of itself as Bon-Psy works his jazz influences into an intoxicating remix.

Though short, it is still every bit as sweet with Bon-Psy making use of walking bass lines & cello riffs to compliment his soothing blend of experimental beats.

RENEGADE ANDROID

“Automation With Human Form”

“Automation With human Form” features the classic track from my 1999 self-titled release with remixes by Bloodclot, MTS Airmass, Sam Fauchon, sunnk, Synkretic and The Fellow Passenger.

All Cat Tracks and Zima Blue were created using a Polyend Tracker and are directly inspired by 90’s IDM style jungle music but with the same raw distorted break samples I used on my first D-Trash release from 1999.

This album is dedicated to my cat Baxter who passed this March, and to all the loved ones we lose along this journey.

[XSN011]

Dj Malaït

“Everything’s Right / Wrong”

Dj Malaït is a Russian producer based in Barcelona. Better known as ZebaKnizel for his work in the offline meeting point collective, where he releases most of his tracks.

He has performed (and still does) alongside several bands of different genres, but his interest in electronic music grew a lot in the last two years and currently he’s fascinated with experimenting and mixing different patterns and genres. His style is influenced by IDM artists, poly rhythms, and wandering harmonies.

This particular release was created with the intention of mixing all sorts of latin percussion vibes, adding some more electronic elements, and some rhythm complications that might make the listener count each beat before dancing confidently.

Pablo Gomez Bate – Construcción Social

Pablo Gomez Bate – Construcción Social
[pn189]

Pablo Gomez Bate

“Construcción Social”

“Construcción Social” (“Social Construction”), the latest album by Pablo Gómez Bate, offers us a varied listening, walking through different landscapes, (de) (re) building provocative atmospheres through the use of natural, acoustic, friendly and recognizable sounds, plus vocalizations that remind us in some passages of the “Windowlicker” of the British twin referent, accompanied by glitches, noises and synthetic or digital discharges.

All of the above, which could be understood as overly cerebral music, occurs without renouncing sensory and rhythmic enjoyment, in songs like “Jajause” or “FM10”, where, as in social constructs, we can agree to follow certain conventional rules, but without a doubt the artistic risk that Pablo takes on this album is precisely to question, expand and / or demolish them, breaking the usual stylistic structures with samples and unexpected breaks.

Almost 48 minutes of clear, high-resolution sound, to enjoy while we contemplate the inevitable rewriting of the parameters and norms that govern or de-govern us.

“Rules Of The Stratosphere”

Colorful, warm and sometimes emotional EP which invites you to explore the stratosphere and watch the clouds from above. If you’ve ever wanted to become the wind for a while and float over it all, or dreamt of being a cloud watching the landscape slowly pass deep below you, explore the Rules of the Stratosphere with your imagination. Perfect on headphones while you commute home in your flying saucers or chilling out in a sunny afternoon.

Laurent Fairon – Lexicon Katapult

Laurent Fairon – Lexicon Katapult

Laurent Fairon

“Lexicon Katapult”

Short, to-the-point electronic tracks exploring MIDI sound possibilities and pseudo-Vocoder abuse. Some electro beats appear here and there, simile-analog synth creeps everywhere, but mostly the focus is on the weird side of electronic music.
Spelled in German fashion for extra impact, the ‘Lexicon Katapult’ concept refers to recurring, abstract Vocoder utterances in the music as well as whimsical individual track titles—mostly actual English words plus French portmanteau words of my own design.
Recorded January–April 2021.

dvidevat x Nulla – 068/078-1

dvidevat x Nulla

“068/078-1”

“Inspiration found between four walls: a new and exciting package of electronic music on a split digital release of two young music producers”

dvidevat and Nulla are among the youngest Ljubljana-based electronic producers. Electronic music culture is what drives them: they both started as DJs, researching different types of electronic and non-electronic music and DJing in many clubs in Ljubljana, and both evolved their listening skills as electronic music producers through institutional and mostly non-institutional education. The split digital release 068/078-1 presents their first longer music work and unveils their musical influences, which inspire them again and again and give them the drive to re-enter the four walls of their studios and their favourite clubs.

The split digital release seems to be a one-piece album, but attentive listeners will find a clear line between the two prominent electronic artists. The joint release may paint their music similar, but it also shows their differences. Where dvidevat tends to develop the sound of the Detroit old-school electro and short but memorable melodies, Nulla progresses with darker UK experimental electro with a touch of breaks, IDM and bleep. It’s clear that they… more

s-u-nDOWN – VII

s-u-nDOWN – VII
[EEM061]

s-u-nDOWN

“VII”

Album “VII” is conceptual in nature. The single line that connects the tracks to each other is a journey in a lucid dream.
The album contains 7 tracks. Each composition is one cycle of lucid dream.

1 circle. Выход из тела (Вступление) “Out of the body (Introduction)” – immersion in the state of the astral plane and the exit of human consciousness from the body.
2 circle. В ожидании чуда “Waiting for a miracle” – everyone in dreams and reality dreams of seeing a miracle and believe in it. And everyone will not believe in it when they personally encounter it. The track uses Stalker’s monologue from Andrei Tarkovsky’s film “Stalker”.
3 circle. Поджигатель “The Pyro“ – a journey along the course of the sacred river Ganges. The connection of the consciousness with space.
4 circle. Свет далеких планет “Light of distant planets” – observation of the body from the height of the stars, travel to different planets that are inaccessible to humans in reality.
5 circle. Песок “Sand” – a record of the time until the body wakes up. Attempts of consciousness to escape from reality.
6 circle. Частица Бога “Particle of God” – a state of night alarm. Fear of the greatest invention of humanity, which is capable of destroying the planet.
7 circle. Пробуждение (Финал) “Awakening (Final)” – the return of consciousness to the human body.

Bon-Psy & Shauni – Blüm

Bon-Psy & Shauni – Blüm
[BHQ007]

Bon-Psy & Shauni

“Blüm”

Born out of reflection and a keen observation of life, Blüm is the latest collaboration between artist/producer, Bon-Psy & Singer/Songwriter, Shauni.

Having already released a series of introspective and thought-provoking tracks, Bon-Psy continues chipping away at his unique style to unearth new ways of presenting his sources of inspiration. Shauni returns here fresh off the back of ‘Disappear’, once again embellishing her R&B infused vocals in a stand out performance.

Inspired by the life of a flower, Bon-Psy navigates varying emotional states that capture the essence of the journey through existence. Joy, grief, despair, love & hope. Blüm depicts what it is to be alive in movie esque fashion, with singer Shauni providing a poignant narrative that unifies the lifecycle of a flower with our own lives as human beings.

Blüm is once again a stellar release for these two artists who work in synergy to translate the journey of life into music.

‘Despite the garden you’ve been dealt, it’s still a garden. Your garden. When it feels you have nothing left to give, water it with a new perspective and watch what blooms there. Here you can allow your flowers to grow toward the sun into brighter days.’
