Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. Rete del disagio was born when followers and supporters from different web communities as upupachan, vaporized art movement, deep lake records and mav [0kbps] records, start to physically meet to bring the noise from the net to the streets.

“The Prejudices of History”

Mark Browne – The Prejudices of History
British sound artist, saxophonist and noise maker Mark Browne follows up his 2012 album “Malapert and Erratic” with this EP- featuring improvisations on percussion, bowed guitar, thigh bone and saxophone recorded on the evening of the 7th December 2013.

“The Prejudices Of History”
Or as I remain pleased with part 1, “Malapert and Erratic part 2″
Over the years I have become increasingly aware of what I do as a musician and the need to at least appear to conform to some ideal whether real or imaginary. This may be an attempt to answer the question: What epitaph will adorn my headstone?
It has been documented that I play the saxophone, and indeed this has been the case for around 30 years. The problem comes with the definition of saxophonist. For me picking up a saxophone, alto initially, was required in an effort to undo the learning that I had acquired over several years of classical guitar playing. The guitar still has the feeling of being someone else’s territory and I could not see myself developing in a manner that would create an approach and style that I could call my own. The uniqueness of a musician’s approach struck me as being important at that time, aged 16.
And so the saxophone was selected as my new instrument: its methods and approach being the antithesis of those of the guitar. Looking at some notes from this period it seems that I believed the ideal piece of music (naturally an improvisation) should aspire to infinite variation in dynamics, timbre and colouration, and rhythm. In later years the need for and development of form (rhythm in a wider sense) has become more important.
So the saxophone is not a guitar. Neither are many other instruments. Am I a saxophonist? Am I a percussionist? Probably neither, I am a collector of sound making devices â the saxophone, in a single instrument, fulfils a number of those early requirements. The other instruments are used to augment the repertoire, adding contrast to the saxophone and expanding the music’s soundscape.
As well as a collector, I am an arranger of sounds and occasional organiser of people. Nothing more.
The pieces were all recorded evening Saturday 7th December 2013”

Various Artists – Button Box
Button Box” is a collection of 46 mixes constructed from elements taken from the Linear Obsessional album “Air Buttons” by Richard Sanderson (LOR046)

“After releasing my album of melodeon and electronics improvisations, I decided to ask my friends whether they would be interested in reworking any of the material- ‘Please take any music at all from the new release (“Air Buttons” by me) and do what you want with it – mangle it, remix it, add things to it, sing over it, play a duo with it, slow it down, turn it into a tune, cut it up, whatever. BUT please make your contribution EXACTLY TWO MINUTES LONG’.
I was astonished by the reaction- soon sound files were flying at me from all over the world, including from friends of friends of friends, as well as from people who I’ve known since school days- collaborators from my post-punk days, free improvisers, morris dancers, other Linear Obsessional artists, even my next-door neighbour! The results are amazingly varied in style – and all are fascinating, and of course, none of them outstay their welcome.
So- enormous thanks to all my friends in the UK, France, Spain,Ireland, Sweden, USA and Malaysia, you have made me very proud”

bristophe is brice catherin and christophe schweizer.

they play instruments like: cello, trombone, a bit of electronics, maybe some tuba, a touch of clarinet, plus e.g. recorder and other flutes, double bass, alpine horn, voice, bird calls, a few toys, and whatever else they come across that might produce some type of sound.

they improvise.

they are half swiss living in hamburg (germany), half french living in geneva (switzerland).

occasionally both halves meet in one place, and that’s when sound happens.

their first album for pyr, le fils de la prophétesse is a two disc set that clocks in at over two hours. the first disc contains almost sixty miniature improvisations the create a whole. the second disc is more long-form, but the two relate as one.

Air Buttons” is an album of improvisations for melodeon and electronics. Download includes a PDF booklet of notes and images.

Richard Sanderson- Melodeon, Footpedals ElectronIcs, Wind-Up Gramophone,
Contact Microphone, Field Recordings.

These pieces were recorded at home in Hither Green, usually on Friday afternoons when the housework was done and before the kids came back from school. As with my previous album of melodeon improvisations the instrument was recorded in three different ways â using footpedals (wah, distortion and pitch change), pushing it through contraptions made with Audiomulch software on my laptop, or augmenting it with other sounds â in this case, field recordings and a wind-up gramophone. The gramophone was recorded with a contact microphone (made by Jez Riley French) attached to the needle, or to a toothbrush. âAbove The Breakersâ was played on pre-WW1 one-row melodeon, all the others were played on a D/G Hohner Pokerwork. The title of âFlim Flamingoâ was suggested by Gary Widdowfield.. âVelux Dopplerâ was created from two field recordings- one of Beckenham Parish Church Bells, the other of the rain falling on the roof window of my bedroom. The field recordings on âShadeâ were made in my garden. The tracks were recorded 2011-13 and assembled November 2013. Thank you for listening.

Gaetano Fontanazza – Music For Toys Meditation
Gaetano Fontanazza, a.k.a. Pseudo, guitarist and musician extraordinaire, offers his first release on Sucu Music, the beautifully entitled “Music for Toys Meditation”. As usual, he explores all of the most extreme and fantastic territories his guitar and his array of effects, musical skill and inventive, can take him (and us) to.
It is a short-length release, clocking off at 25 minutes, where ambient, glitch, noise and soundscapes create a unique aural and emotional experience in the listener. Not to forget some acoustic moments which, unexpected as they may sound, given the profoundly electronic feel of the work, do not appear strange or gratuitous at all.

these are the darker sides of justin james a.k.a. drmlgcc: atmospheric and dense, yet spacious at the same time. three tracks, located somewhere between musical architecture and spontaneity, are the building blocks of “treading”. justin guides us through sounds as diverse as can be. they are at times repetitive and minimal, ambient and floating, experimental and playful. they are organic and synthetic, wild and fragile, and occasionally steeped in krautrock improvisation.

all of this forms the basis for drmlgcc’s sound stories – his slowly evolving, acoustic tales.

it took him quite some time to complete this release, let us spend all the time necessary to be taken away, to experience the three tracks thoroughly.

Cherubim – The Joyful Shrieks of the Cherubim!
Cherubim makes noises, drones, pulses and melodies with guitars, trombones, trinkets and computers, sampling and swirling it all into an unearthly sound. After a few years of playing together in the 12,000 Trees collective, guitarist Yuko Pepe and laptop/trombonist Brett Sroka splintered off as a duo, with a strange, yet overlapping aesthetic.

Yuko Pepe is an experimental/noise/improvisational musician based in Brooklyn, NY, born in Tokyo. She started playing the guitar in 2001 at university in Tokyo, where she also received her nick name, Pepe. Currently, Yuko plays with 12000 Trees, Cherubim, Helioscope and has performed solo in NYC, Berlin and Tokyo.

Brett Sroka is a trombonist, computer musician and composer for film, dance, installations and his own ensembles. He has performed at BAMcafe, the Sonic Circuits Festival, the Guggenheim Museum and the Teatro Fondamenta Nueve in Venice, Italy. His minimal, electro-acoustic jazz trio Ergo released it’s third recording, “If Not Inertia”, on Cuneiform Records in 2012.

Projekt Luty – Rejestrator
This is an important album for Projekt Luty for two reasons. It is the first album recorded in nine years; plus, it is the first one recorded in “studio” conditions so to speak, or at least was not recorded to casette tape like all the previous ones. Musically as always with Projekt Luty it is unpredictable, but at the same time surprisingly coherent. Songs are locked within a tornado of swirling effects, simple tranceful repetitions of guitars and keyboards and occasional freakouts. All music as always is improvised but thanks to studio magic, was reinforced after recording with additional synth and drum tracks. It is dense, all the time balancing between order and disorder, alternately fun and dark, noisy and dreamy, always exciting and full of diy charm and jangle.
