about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

“Bralitz Vol. 1”

The music you are listening to was recorded in the last week of August 2012 in Bralitz/Brandenburg, Germany. That year, there wasn’t a Braaahhlitz Festival yet, just a small concert at the end of the week. So there was plenty of time to play music.

The basic tracks with guitars, drums and bass were mostly recorded live, on a stage in the old railway station’s former waiting hall. After that, the musicians from the aaahh-records family contributed their parts. No boundaries – there is soul infused pop, folky acoustic songs, quirky raps, and beautiful melodies.

He has been in the netaudio scene since 2003. After more than five years of inactivity, The Hardliner returns to the scene with a new album. “Each of the ten tracks vibrates a different facet of cheerfulness. A strand of melancholia is woven through the pieces. Enjoy the sound of bitpop in spring.”

z(xW+yV) – Trois Prises
[Eg0_213]

z(xW+yV)

“Trois Prises”

z(xW+yV) is a solo project of Kecap Tuyul started spring 2018 while experimenting different ways to generate low volume feedback with small gear. After some tries with one contact microphone and one 1W battery-powered amplifier he developped a modular system on this basis, in order to generate not only feedback, but also feedback of feedback, and feedback of feedback of feedback (…) by chaining amps and microphones in a circular way that blurs more and more the distinction between sound source and sound’s reproduction, between acoustic musical instruments and electronic sound diffusion.

Unlike its first album 3×2(1W+18V) whose 3 pieces where mixes of 2 improvisations, Trois Prises features only raw improvisations played on more complex versions of the set-up (with 3 or 4 amplifiers). Track 1 & 3 contain no edits, track 2 was edited from a longer improvisation.

Lately Kind Of Yeah

“Sturm und Drang”

Lately Kind of Yeah – Sturm und Drang (VULP-0146)

Part of the Lately Kind of Yeah archive series.

Sturm und Drang is a greatly improved and expanded Storm and Urge, originally released on Vulpiano back in 2011. Awash with noise but still so sweet, and perhaps one of the warmest, coziest releases LKOY’s discography.

Words from the artist:

“Marking a start to the singer-songwriter transition, I went away from sequencing synths and into learning how to sing. It was ultimately influenced by relationships and usually from the perspective of ‘me to you’, but its turn-around was that I always sang them to myself. Despite drowning most lyrics in delay and noise, it only mattered if I knew what they were. This was my practice of reminders and rewiring.

There’s always been recordings from each cycle that sang and latched onto other people, giving reason into sharing the music at all, but that did eventually mutate why I liked to record. Once anyone else heard my voice, it wasn’t really mine anymore.”

DK DANCE

“La France Qui Tache “

Shoves turn to punches when DK DANCE release their 4th for D-TRASH. The band are in top form, churning out black metal riff-driven industrial punk, consistent with all their previous material – But don’t let that consistency put you at ease… DK DANCE become more lethal and explosive with every song, let alone this brand new full length. Enjoy… but don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Laura Cavan – Unsuspicious

Laura Cavan – Unsuspicious
[Eg0_208]

Laura Cavan

“Unsuspicious”

Laura Cavan is a french visual artist who also works with sounds, and especially natural ones like in her first album Unsuspicious. This project started in 2016 when Laura Cavan was studying arts in Marseille and created an installation using pieces of wood found in the area of her school (which is located close to a forest). The insertion of contact microphones in these pieces of woods allowed to transmit small vibrations emitted by its inhabitants : termites. The resulting sounds were sent in real time through headphones for the installation’s visitors.

Early 2019, some of these sounds have been selected, edited and mixed by Kecap Tuyul in for the realisation of this album. Different, light treatments (mostly equalization) have been applied to the orginal tracks, without trying to hide the recorder’s hiss nor other unwanted sounds, but rather with the aim of letting appear all aspects of the recordings in an organic way. The results don’t pretend to give an accurate reproduction of termit’s sound but should rather be considered like sound pieces where the recording technology is a part of the material and not a transparent medium. As a sequel of this release, Kecap Tuyul is currently working on tracks mixing electronic sounds with Laura Cavan’s recordings.

The artwork is made of a selection of Laura Cavan’s drawings of these wood pieces which that were created for her installation.

JKP – Film-Noir

JKP – Film-Noir
[20k361]

JKP

“Film-Noir”

JKP’s chiptune releases between 2005 and 2010 had a strong influence on how 20kbps and lobit was perceived in that era and it also affected how I looked at my label.

Nine years later, it’s a different world. A different netaudio scene. And of course, 20kbps has changed as well. Nosthalgia is big, everything is retro. JKP takes it some steps further with a short EP dedicated to Film Noir. The four tracks use samples from four movies: Impact, He Walked By Night, Plan 9 From Outer Space and Manos: The Hands Of Fate. Only the first two are Film Noir, the other two are Horror B Movies. Being a cinephile I’ve seen them all, in the period when JKP was first releasing here. You see, everything is connected.
