about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Jazzaria – Chronologically

Jazzaria

“Chronologically”

Tick, tock, goes the clock – chimes are on, then they’re not. Sometimes we observe a pause, yet it lacks a likely cause. Onwards too we tick ourselves, and someday tock right off the shelf.

Featuring orchestral strings, woodwinds, female choir, drum kit, synthesizer, upright bass, acoustic guitar, tenor saxophone, and piano.

“El Puente”

“The EP “El Puente” arises as a result of a project shift in what would be the new album of this project,
leaving these 4 tracks trapped in a limbo but with some things in common such as the fascination for jazz and the use of sound collage and sound manipulation.”

CollAGE D – CollAGE D(urdoudink)

CollAGE D – CollAGE D(urdoudink)

CollAGE D

“CollAGE D(urdoudink)”

Tentez l’aventure !

released April 3, 2023

Philippe Neau : soundscapes, artwork.
Romain (Le Crapaud) : guitare, sax, batterie, mix.
Baptiste (La Morue) : basse sur “Le soir, en t’attendant”.

Adriano Cava – Lineology

Adriano Cava – Lineology
[mhrk342]

Adriano Cava

“Lineology”

Adriano Cava is an artist based in Turin, Italy. He is part of the New Weird Italia collective and co-founder of the “screw wave” label Riforma. Adriano plays with tape, electricity and various sonic masses to explore sounding environments.

Adriano Cava’s debut on Mahorka was finalized under the name “Lineology” after a few iterations of the sonic contents, names, sides order and design in discussions with the label.

“These tracks originated from a basic approach to sounds. Focusing only on the frequencies’ “mass”, I warped and sculpted it following irregular imaginary lines.

When some granular samplers, a digital delay and a synth got stuck in a circular resampling chain, they started generating feedbacks, saturation and clipping. Listening to and contemplating this “sonic stalemate” I began to deepen it by stretching and pitching down each texture and each note.

The “magnetic” side replays the same game using an old magnetophone (a Castelli tape recorder borrowed from a friend). Each “digital” track is overdubbed in a singular reel loop and then expanded again, adding few new elements.

Both processes were dark and unconscious. The eight (4+4) tracks, split in two sides of a tape, are still open, intentionally released without a final edit.”

Released March 25, 2023 as free (cc) digital download and limited cassette edition.

WEEKS – WXY

WEEKS – WXY

WEEKS

“WXY”

As music reviewers, we’ve been following Chris Weeks for more than 10 years now and can easily count him as one of our most praised artists of the 10s. Among those, he might as well be one of the most underrated, whether under his birth name with numerous albums and EPs of radiating drone and dreamlike scintillating ambient, his Kingbastard moniker exploring territories closer to electronica, IDM and experimental techno, or as Myheadisaballoon, showcasing more pop and psychedelic elements. In short, imagine if Primal Scream, Autechre and Brian Eno were all one and the same person, and you’ll get an idea of the man’s creativity… suffice to say that his lack of recognition still comes as a shock to us at IRM. For this new release, that we are proud to share digitally as an exclusive, the UK producer takes on yet another alias, or so to speak. So, why WEEKS ? Probably because “WXY” didn’t exactly belong to any of his aforementioned identities : too ambient for Kingbastard, too minimalistic for Myheadisaballoon, too raw maybe for simply signing it Chris Weeks or make it fit with the apparently short-lived C\/\/\/\ project and its fragile chamber electronics. With massive layers of hiss, static and instable textures, hazy synths, syncopated drums and glitchy rhythms, this new album sounds very much spontaneous, which has been a dominant trait of Chris Weeks’ music of late. It feels organic and yet abstract, as much delicate as it is hefty, vast and intimate at the same time. Sometimes playful as well, but always filled with anxiety and unstability… so many paradoxes and seeming contradictions that make “WXY” quite captivating, another peak in Chris Weeks’ substantial body of work.
