about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Centrul Isteric – KISI

Centrul Isteric

“KISI”

Centrul Isteric (FR: Centre Hystérique; EN: Hysterical Center) is the brainchild of Romanian A/V artist Gili Mocanu, better known for his abstract electronics project, Somnoroase Păsărele, which saw over a dozen recordings released on Baba Vanga (CZ), Anti-Everything (US), Czaszka (UK), OBS (RU), OTA and URUBU (PT). His style is distinctive, utilizing atypical synth sounds and asymmetrical or non-rhythmic elements, with several successful incursions into minimalist ambient/drone as well.

When not orchestrating his own samples as Somnoroase Păsărele, Gili has initially (circa 2009-10) used Centrul Isteric as a side-project for messing around with rhythmic loops extracted from popular music – sometimes matching the BPM while other times not. Over time, the experiment has evolved into long-form spectral explorations (2010-16), and has recently settled into a 3rd approach to “organized hysteria”, as illustrated by KISI. On this 36-minute piece, which utilizes source materials provided by his SP companion, Miru Mercury, only the 3 or 4 opening seconds of each soundpiece are sampled and looped, in such ways that would allow for maximum dramatic effect with each subsequent maneuver. KISI thus marks a shift from previous formless ‘agglutination’ to more considered ‘superordination’ in time and space.

King Elizabeth

“This is Not My Church”

Following from a surprise return to Vulpiano Records after a 7 year departure with The Awakening earlier in 2020, King Elizabeth is back again in short order with This is Not My Church, traversing a variety of moods and styles through incredible song craft and energy. As always, highlighting a favorite is a challenge, but my vote goes to the sultry grit of “A Mighty Man”.

Nesting Error – Il diluvio del 1931 e altri disagi

Nesting Error – Il diluvio del 1931 e altri disagi
[NN_EP035_06_20]

Nesting Error

“Il diluvio del 1931 e altri disagi”

A musical breath held and started after many years without a specific motivation. Infused life and breath with full lungs for the debut album dating back to 2007 ignored, kept in the drawer and never released for any label for reasons related to recordings and overall production with then somewhat limited means belonging to the low-fi concept subsequently re-evaluated. Nesting Error are a long-lived and complex duo. Their music close to genres related to digital and analog electronic music of Central European inspiration often takes the listener’s hand to lead him travels through time and history thanks also to the wise and never banal use of samples. In “Il diluvio del 1931 e altri disagi” a meteorological event of exceptional gravity that happened in their Palermo in 1931 is taken as a pretext when a flood of frightening propositions brought the entire city to its knees far from prepared or accustomed to events of the generally reaping several victims. The biblical term “deluge” expands, amplifies and extremes several more or less global spatio-temporal references which at the time of the release of the album evidently had to represent real psychological “hardships” fully narrated in each piece as world wars; the era of the planetary homeland; unfortunate American and Italian presidencies; the chilling deception of the concentration camp of Theresienstadt in a tragic game of jumps between past and present where human and cultural disintegration remains the only link. A circle that closes just where it started, the Second World War and its famous incomprehensible encrypted and encrypted messages that hid strategic information of a world completely out of control under a flood that leaves no way out in an unfortunate epochal context that is repeated without ever end.

misaa – minoritario

misaa – minoritario

misaa

“minoritario”

At times, a tent appears in the hallways of a giant shopping center announcing a collective desire to elope. The times of cynicism and sitting on the beach chair, believing that nothing was going to melt from its foundations, are over.

The exercise of power is a pressure cooker, using (re)pression. Machinery requires to generate a drowning, and drown every slap made by the oppressed. It represses it with physical and economical violence, and with tons of images alluding to static structures. A majority category, a common point, to agree, but fundamentally unreachable and inaccessible in its totality. And there is a minority counterpart: poor, ugly, violeted, spectator of its own minority but immersed in the dream of being included, someday, by the majority.

But there is a third category, the one who does not want or need to continue playing the rules of a game that was created so that they would lose it. People with defective bodies, physically weak, second-level genres, depressed, shy and mutant, although they don’t stop moving. They require shaking and articulating themselves, know each other and look at each other, and so they realize that they were not so alone, and that they did not need the normality that the repressive images proposed to them. Seek the not obvious and realize yourself as a constant flow, that shakes and makes uncomfortable the status; questions, says and screams, and whose only way to be stopped completely, to be killed, is by condemning it to oblivion. Unfortunately, we have a good memory.

“minoritario” is an album that inserts us in a constant intermittency. Short rhythms and textures that draw a landscape where we are forced to be alert. The challenge of paying attention and perceiving what is around usduring a change of decade where we have the challenge of living with uncertainty every day. Musical pieces that announce the arrival of a momentthat does not stop becoming present, and in turn the challenge of facing what surrounds usto follow our constant march.

Marghera
Presentazione dell’album

“crescent”

it has taken more than 5 years until a new xenoton release is finally completed. with a total length of only 21 minutes, the work resembles exactly the format of the original tonAtom releases, which were designed for 3″ cds. six tracks combine dark soundscapes and xenoton-typical, melody-focused electronica miniatures. six studies between stylistic development and continuity with the previous releases “traveller” (2015) and “in a world of lights and glass” (2013). an additional bonus is the crescent-artwork as wallpaper for the background of your computer desktop and in full size as a printable poster

[mi266]

MOHER

“Antropoceno Auto-Infligido”

Joana Moher only grants us a one-way ticket on a trip that will be ours alone, everything we find, whether abstract or objective, is something that only we keep inside. On the launching pad, the viewer has to disconnect from what he sees to start feeling what is going on inside him.

Microseconds of life memorized and stored in the depths of our daily lives. Some of which we can unveil in the projections that our thinking makes throughout this experience.

A psychedelic work in abstraction, geometric in error, sublime in mantra. Outdoor and everyday recordings that are stitched and manipulated for the purpose of flashback, retention or repression of our attention as an active receiver of our daily lives.

“I was commissioned to compose for a theatre piece on Macbeth for the
National theatre of Albania. It is mostly music done on Max/MSP (audio

I re-edited the music from the original soundtrack so it can fit on an
album concept as the original sountrack is longer and it was meant to be
played live during the theatrical show.”

Brioskj – When new feelings come

Brioskj

“When new feelings come”

Brioskj has been appearing on Kahvi for many years, usually a track here or there on the annual VA, but this time, due to having plenty of time on his hands due to the current situation, an entire EP arrived in the Kahvi mailbox. Cheerful, bouncy, and perhaps the beginning of summer, ‘When new feelings come’ is a delightful, easy to listen to six track, that sparkles in the sun.
