about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Marco Pianges – Somewhere

Marco Pianges – Somewhere
[UKRec003]

Marco Pianges

“Somewhere”

“Somewhere” – the psycho-sound odyssey by Marco Pianges, out on May 28, 2021 for UKhan Records

“Somewhere” composed by the Sicilian Marco Pianges recalls the concept of psychogeographic “dérive” (drift) defined by the situationism of Guy Debord, proposing it again on a sonic journey through places never seen before. Longing for something never lived where regret and acceptance condense into deep dronic textures that as thread explore remote places on the Eurasian continent.

Dark Ambient backgrounds paint landscapes where the human element seems a distant memory evoked by old field recordings corroded by digital glitches and traces of static electricity. An electronic immersion between the ruins of past wars and areas made deserted by future disasters.

EP’s pre-orders will be available since on April 30, 2021 on the bandcamp platform: ukhanrecords.bandcamp.com/album/somewhere

The streaming of the single “Was War” will be available in preview on the same platform and also on the UKhan Records youtube channel: https://youtu.be/CqpNithPz04

Richey Hackett – Sleepswitch

Richey Hackett

“Sleepswitch”

Richey returns with a single, “Sleepswitch”, ahead of his upcoming solo album, along with exclusive b-side “Stepping Out Of The Window”. Evoking the experience of insomnia, a panoramic synth refrain recalls someone pitching through a seastorm as a post-punk rhythm forces the ship onwards. A droning vortex of a solo organ progression serves as the coda.

Smiltzo – Back To Life

Smiltzo – Back To Life
[IYE40]

Smiltzo

“Back To Life”

A special release to celebrate the forty number of publications In Your Ears, the new effort by Smiltzo who had already published here the beautiful A Lifelong Quarantine.

Back To Life is a special vision of music and our existence, Indian titles that refer to an ancient wisdom to research in the contemporary and in the new forms of life we are experiencing. Smiltzo’s musical trajectory goes far beyond genres, we must look at the whole it generates, the strong emotions it causes, the illumination that creeps into our doubts.

Electronics of great quality and at the service of a very precise design, for an extraordinary musician.

Rarefied atmospheres or large visions of the whole, megalopolies of the future or small meadows behind our house, Smiltzo is everywhere.

“Black aura fuels the air
Blank face, pessimistic stares
If life is a gift tell me why so much is missed
A fog of melancholic solitary rots into my head

I feel so unknown from everything I know
For everything I once loved to be taken and shattered
Taking all as forbidden
Breathing out nothing but lies

Cowering into my pit
Cowering in my demise.”

Mauk Tenieb – Esiön
[20k368]

Mauk Tenieb

“Esiön”

Can’t help seeing images from Blade Runner. Deckard tiredly gazing at the score on his piano. Roy and Pris in the Bradbury Building. It’s but one evocation though, and Mauk Tenieb’s album is lush with them. Murky bars some decades from now, where robot pets scurry around rugged looking patrons. The sand haze in the Texan desert where, just like that, William Burroughs might appear to you in a dream to let you know that… We’ll let you find out for yourself. In the meantime, you can listen to lots of 20kbps, which now has Mauk Tenieb’s new album Esiön. All in one track, because it’s best taken in as a whole.

Paco Maddalena – Panorami Verticali

Paco Maddalena – Panorami Verticali
[Lav87]

Paco Maddalena

“Panorami Verticali”

Five tracks that involve a different vision, a new way of relating to the world around us, based on the essence of everyday environments soundscaping.
Hence the title of the ep, Panorami Verticali, intended as a new interaction with the context, no longer ordinary but translated into a different dimension, perpendicular in this case, like the imaginary line that from the ground, passing through legs, reaches the head : the noises are rhythmically and harmonically autonomous, self-celebrating, free and dancing in the sound space and from the earth they rise to be recoded by the mind of the listener.
Disconnected from the normal cultural classification, sounds acquire an independent meaning, result of a different elaboration in each one, making the passive routine become presence and the ego, the individual, the listener, more than ever collective archetype, one with the sound context.
The sea (“Osservazione partecipata”), cars on the street, a train station, but also the sound of a gate and the empty garden of a school (“Troppe trame”), the interiors of a steel factory (“Basta che poi ci ricordiamo dove”), are the result of elaborate, dilated and intertwined field recording sessions, played with an ‘organic’ synth (Lyra 8, Soma), drones, tape loops and modified keyboards sequences.

“Threnody”

“Threnody” stands up as a perfect soundtrack to these troubling current times, maintaining an ethereal atmosphere throughout its almost 40 minutes of duration, with some sinister and surreal sound flashes, it culminates in a melancholic, hopeful way. A nostalgic listen for a world that no longer exists.

Svayam – Tela

Svayam – Tela
[mi284]

Svayam

“Tela”

Why is perfection always in Major? Sharp echoes run into the tepid fragility of the bones. A staggering roam resumes its straight path and freezes it. Now it’s the heat’s curve that protects me and leaves me in the confort of what I know. The echoes become clear, the texture grows. It’s time to leave. In a sudden, everything returns.

The journey begins from time’s concrete decision. It’s where rests the peace and the martyrdom of the fields coloured with crimson red. An approach, severe and taken by force. Dimension and relief fall like drops of posterity and what comes after. There’s no path, there’s no destiny. Erratic satyric nerve. We’ve found ourselves again and now we accelerate.

The concentration-density of the concept of border. Chromatic suspension of waves, that hiss like small dynamic atmospheres. Textural insertion of notes in reverse osmosis and constant formations in tension.

That feeling of falling from the wake up dream where the rythmic variations lie: in the tunnel, we translate the flavor of a memory. Let it fall. A confirmation from the common sense dissipates all doubts, either ours or from the others. As we’re getting back to perfection, all completes itself. Quietly, we meet up separated.
The reality in reverse.
