about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

Toxic Chicken – Radio Reveries

Toxic Chicken – Radio Reveries
[earthrid-031]

Toxic Chicken

“Radio Reveries”

Breezy beats and relaxing reflections inspired by listening to Beachy Head Radio. https://beachyheadradio.com/

Most of these tracks were recorded in one go, as inspiration struck. The bass, core melodies and rhythms were created on the Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator 33, to which was added a sprinkling of sounds from other gadgets, and samples of Kai’s own voice for percussion purposes.

Toxic Chicken is Dutch musician, composer, visual artist and all-round good egg Kai Nobuko. Besides being a keen listener to Beachy Head Radio, he presents one of the music shows on BHR, ‘Funderground’.

Virtually J – Reworks

Virtually J – Reworks
[mhrk359]

Virtually J

“Reworks”

Long time ago, in the relatively small Black Sea coastal city of Varna, Julian Kalchev a.k.a. Virtually J became a kind of local pioneer and an inspiration for a whole generation, being the first to explore ways to compose and produce electronic music programmed, edited, played on a PC. He’s been important part of the scene since then, contributing, for example, to the essential VA series “Kokaku” on Jisatsuken. We were really excited to release on Mahorka his latest album “Autocracy Mage” in February 2021.

In the vein of the never skipped tradition of preparing and releasing a really special collaborative Mahorka album for Netlabel Day each year (e.g. Fire to the Stars, Captive Portal, krāllār, Teeth of Divine, Tomoroh Hidari, Electrohollyc & MO. reworks albums, the “Music for Elevators vol. 5” VA compilation and a 4T Thieves remixes album), we are more than happy to announce 2023’s release “Virtually J – Reworks”, including new versions of tracks off “Autocracy Mage” (from Toxic Derwish, LR Friberg, Hypnos, Captive Portal, SpaceCherry, 4T Thieves, Asshole Galaxy (Abdicant and Weldroid), Brainquake, Obhod, Fluffy Inside (a.k.a. Pandacetamol), Mas&Delayer, and Julian Kalchev himself in the Autocracy Mage Remix of “Nazka”) and one unreleased original track and an un released Autonomaton remix.

4T Thieves

“The Shipping Forecast”

Nik (4T Thieves) has been putting out beautiful electronic music since the early demoscene days. He also, quite notably, has been the manager of Kahvi Collective since 2001, which has gone from strength to strength and definitely arrived at ‘cult’ status in the scene. In 2015 we had his Mahorka debut releases – “Mahorka netlabel day mashup” and “Glass EP”. Since then we’ve had 10 attributed to 4T Thieves releases, one of which on digipak CD – the already classic “Hauntology” from 2019.

In 2023 we are more than happy to be releasing his second digipak CD on Mahorka – “The Shipping forecast”, a stellar new album and also special collaborative project, which features, besides 9 new beautiful 4T Thieves original tracks, remixes of some of them from Room of Wires, Abdicant, Pandacetamol, Weldroid and Tim Koch.

Released July 8, 2023 as free (cc) digital download and special limited edition digipak CD.

Yulio – Cosmic Fractal

Yulio – Cosmic Fractal
[pn221]

Yulio

“Cosmic Fractal”

Yulio (Julio Muñoz) presents his fifth album “Cosmic Fractal”, an album combining electronic, ambient and cosmic elements to create a soundscape that transports you through space and time.

Cosmic fractals are geometric patterns found in nature and repeated at different scales throughout the universe. These patterns can be found in cosmic structures such as galaxies, nebulae and in the large-scale distribution of matter in the universe, generated through complex physical processes such as gravitation, turbulence and radiation.

Cosmic fractals study has helped scientists to better understand the structure and evolution of the universe. In addition, their beauty and complexity has fascinated artists, people interested in science and nature.

All this mystery was studied and clarified by Benoit Mandelbrot (1924-2010), a mathematician known for his pioneering work in fractal theory and fractal geometry. Mandelbrot was one of the first to realize the importance of self-similarity, scale in nature and complex phenomena. His work opened a new field in mathematics and computer science. His ideas have been applied in many areas, including physics, biology, economics, engineering, and music (why not?)..

From the very start, a unique atmosphere can be perceived, due to evolving and constantly changing sound effects. Yulio adds an extra complexity and texture layer to every composition, developing a character and personality of their own, wrapped by an exploratory approach, leading to even more intimate discoveries.

These energetic pieces make your senses vibrate with space-like sounds, while the more relaxing ones motivate self-reflection and contemplation.

Summing up, “Cosmic Fractal” is a fascinating listening experience, taking you on a journey through galaxies and the cosmos – a house trademark . The elements mixture, as well as sonic fractality, create a unique music work – one we recommend to any electronic music fan.

MigloJE – Elements 2

MigloJE

MigloJE

Elements 2

It’s been a very long time since we released Elements by MigloJE on Kahvi, and we’re extremely proud that he has now given us Elements 2.A glitchy, synthetic landscape, where the beats are distorted and the melodies are fractured.

Throughout the album, glitchy textures and unexpected audio artifacts will punctuate the music, creating a sense of disorientation and otherworldliness. The soundscapes are complex and intricate, with layers of glitchy percussion, warped synths, and distorted vocals, drawing on the legacy of electronic music pioneers while pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with modern technology. An immersive experience that will transport you to a world of glitchy beauty and electronic wonder with some retro vibes added for good measure.

Wanda & Nova deViator – ARP 339

Wanda & Nova deViator – ARP 339

Wanda & Nova deViator

ARP 339

With Escherian devotion to infinity, the electro-punk music charge of Wanda and Nova deViator subtly flows from cool cosmic cyberfuturism to heated dance-floor fever. Drawing on a variety of genre offshoots, Maja Delak and Luka Prinčič use repetition to seamlessly develop the heritage of polyrhythm and deep bass tremors from domestic intimacy into an all-encompassing atmosphere. Their sonic habitat reflects existing social structures with technological precision, throwing a harsh light on flaws without fetishizing criticism. The world they weave from fragments of universality via sizzling electronic impulses and hypnotic vocal expression would likely be described as science fiction three decades ago – but today it is uncomfortable to think how accurately it reflects our own reality.

Building on the foundation established by their praised debut Pacification (Kamizdat, 2013), the diverse artists complement and upgrade the sounds of their upcoming new record with a live performance that reconceptualises their musical hybrid within the framework of intermedia and dance arts. Sensuality meets anger, passion cavorts intellectually with rebellion, yet at the same time, without endangering their own principles, the duo successfully follows the unwritten rule – this kind of music simply has to catch one’s ear willingly, sink in and touch the listener.

Daniel Klauser – Bilocacion EP

Daniel Klauser – Bilocacion EP
[pn220]

Daniel Klauser

“Bilocacion EP”

Bilocation: Specters of Marx

Searches find their place, means find their forms, rhythm finds its balance. “Bilocación”, from musician, producer, DJ, and cultural manager Daniel Klauser, is dance, trance, and manifesto; an EP that opens up new soundscapes within a register that has gone in different directions: techno, house, hip hop, Latin American jazz, or rock are part of this musician’s continuous search, who has made his way by assembling and dismantling aesthetics, discourses, sounds, and scenes to, in this new work, invoke the ghosts of what once was not music, but the underground discourses that once inhabited it.

Featuring musician Tristán Sotomayor (AOI and Nonlocal Society) as a guest, “Ft Tristán” is a track that makes us wonder, at what point did we arrive at this place? Through minimal means and lo-fi sound as a discursive weapon, Klauser moves us imperceptibly from one room to another, from one landscape to another, from one atmosphere to another; from the rawness of the sound to starchy groovy passages of rhythms, almost tribal, that build up or rather melt into a lysergic, warm, soft, and enveloping flow.

“Trumpet Lesson” is imagery taken from the dream of a trumpet traveling through the acid particles spat out by Miles Davis; or it could be a hallucinogenic journey in the midst of Kerouac’s arid road, or a dark and dystopian hallucination of Burroughs, or perhaps it rises as the cosmic and psychedelic intensity of Herbie Hancock in Sextant; what is certain is that here, Klauser’s processed trumpet delivers something retro-futuristic, accompanied by arpeggios and bass lines that take us back to a biological and hallucinatory tribal dance.

Daniel Klauser‘s voice in “Yo te quise” adds an additional note to this work which, like a laboratory of ideas, supports, and means, invites us to immerse ourselves in a sinuous movement, reminding us that what we hear is not a dance but a ceremony, and that there, in that middle zone, between “I love you” and “I loved you”, there is also a boundary – an abyssal zone – between the real and the unreal or between the surface and the deep.

“De tu mirada” is the closing of this manifesto of ghosts, retromanias, references, aesthetics, and discourses, where the sound space becomes a container of multiple intensities that seem to slide between poles, extremes, and middle zones that immerse us and make us emerge among soft whispers that moisten the listening, making it acidic and fractal.

“Bilocación” is the supernatural appearance of sounds that, gathered in this ceremony, celebrate the arrival of the specters that transit and break with the censorship, prohibition, and stigma that the industry has created around underground, marginal, pristine, and consequent music.
