about

Since 2010, many netlabels and artists publish their new free music releases on the clongclongmoo website. Free means that you don't have to pay anything or register to download music. However, you can usually pay something to support the artists. Please note the licenses under which the music is published. This is important to know what you are allowed to do with the music. Please visit the labels' homepages to get the free music. Most files are published under a creative commons licence. At netlabellist you will find an extensive list of websites that also offer (or have offered) free music. If you run a netlabel yourself or offer your music for free and want to draw attention to it, you are welcome to use the submission form. And remember that clongclongmoo is not there to do business, because “Business Is Not My Music.”

update, February 1st, 2026

Dear friends and followers of clongclongmoo. It's great to have you here. As you may have noticed, the site has changed a bit. Some people wanted to be able to access the music with fewer clicks. That should work again now. Here's a quick note to everyone who uses relatively new platforms such as Mirlo, Faircamp, or Coop: feel free to use the submit form to draw attention to your new music. I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who runs a netlabel with free Creative Commons music. Thank you! Konrad from clongclongmoo

Arabia Saudade

“Estudando a América do sul”

PLOT
The third and last album of ARABIA SAUDADE completes the sad story of their Arab Character. Arrived in Brazil with big luggage full of Saudade on the first album (Americ) our character started loving the carnival frenzy of its new home (Le Petit Senegallia) and now is ready to discover all the countries of South America. His trip driven by Wikipedia info leads him to unconditional love for the continent. But when the joy reaches the apex it is time to go back home. As Joao Gilberto taught us: joy has an end and sadness doesn’t.

ALBUM:
The 12 new tracks recorded by ARABIA SAUDADE are one for each South American country (except Brazil which was the main theme of the previous albums). Each lyrics is focused on something taken from the Wikipedia page and then explored live by the Italian band. It took four years to check all the news with real intercontinental trips. During these trips Arabia Saudade embedded Cazzurillo because their Portuguese was still translated with Google Translate, and she was the only one that could understand our sad guys.

REFERENCE:
The travelling helped Arabia Saudade to discover tons of new music and evolve their arabpunk sound. We can sum up in these references:

Downtown Boys, Gal Costa, Bad Bunny, Gong, La Tigresa Del Oriente, Wendy Sulca

Downtown Deceit

“Live At C L U B D E A D”

FAKE jazz FAKE visuals FAKE venue FAKE live FAKE spoken word FAKE sax FAKE AI FAKE timeline FAKE cyberpunk a e s t h e t i c s HYBRID lyrics

Album includes cyberpunk ramblings and 3 visuals, including the descriptions used to teach Midjourney AI to generate them:

(Front) Heavy distortions, jazz club collapsing over the immense weight of its own free jazz orchestra’s talents, players smoking, late night, 1950s downtown music club feel, black and white film, high contrast, overexposed over cosmic radiation, elegant and doomed, instruments in hand they keep doing what they do best, cursing at the night away with out-of-tune saxophones, guitars, drums, bass, all sweaty, curved, ties loose, the audience crushed by rubble.

(Back) The night of the murder, 1950s downtown street at night, crisp photographic black and white film, overly realistic and lurid, almost tabloid-like, people running away from the gunshots, blood drops on the floor, a faceless victim, the murderer spitting on the cadaver just before walking away and a cool and cursed free jazz band playing furiously over the whole scene while smoking narcotics-laced cigarettes, intoxicated and indifferent, as if nothing in the world mattered but their own jam.

(Inlay) The city’s fast asleep, the insides of smoky club, underground, illegal dealings happening as cops turn a blind eye, spoken word being enunciated hastily over an open microphone in front of a half-asleep audience of nighthawks, pimps and tricksters and past-their-prime drugged up whores, indifferent, palpable weight of numerous broken dreams, rumor has it that no one should walk outside, or else… black and white scratched up Kodak film, 1950s feel, dimly lit, cigarette smoke envelops, heavy radiation, both outside and inside equally dangerous, the man keeps talking as no one even tries acknowledging the truth, its harbinger, jazz band lazily playing along, desecrated, defeated, lightyears into the past.

All confusion is absolutely necessary to us.

Just a word about this album, usually there is a beginning and an end to everything. So with our first one and this one we did both, to be sure to stay outside later… I mean to explore the after death : Life.
…and also in the same way to say that we must put an end to police violence. This may seem complicated, knowing that the police are mainly there to maintain social inequalities and enforce laws passed by the rich and to which they are not subject. However, it would be enough, for example, to tax the largest fortunes to set up a universal income, and to significantly reduce violence in the world… as well as the number of police forces. Anyway, who does not know what is the brake that prevents both social and ecological progress? Capitalism cannot be reformed, because it is in its deep nature to be against all the human qualities of solidarity, sharing, and equity.
The so-called benefits touted by its supporters eventually exist only for those who accept this fool’s game, and approach the top of the pyramid. For the others, they remain out of reach behind the window. Descending from colonialism, it concentrates all the resources stolen from the oppressed into the hands of its ardent defenders. Obedience is a crime. Shouldn’t we try with all our might to develop alternatives and defend them against the watchdogs of power?

Dedicated to all the victims of police checks.

PS. Also, if it’s not obvious “lAId Off Sex Workers” is talking about the artists difficulties face to the rise of artificial intelligence too… Tool are tools and myself I prefer to try to hijack them, instead to be afraid, I prefer to mix everything new with older roots… But actually, knowing the cost per day of the chatGPT3 AI (around 100 000 dollars), it seems crystal clear, that the firms will provide their tool free only the time to push to the dole many art workers. And when there will be less concurrence, to turn it only available with paying subscriptions.

BRITNEY25

“Division Joie”

The Necrophile Hummingbird netlabel presents Division Joie by Britney25.
“Depressive Music for the Incurable People”

Whatever the bloody waves of dark thoughts, only the corpses return to the shore, but then they straighten up to scream in the wind: not even dead yet !

If a Goth spirit exists, it’s not a poser thing, not even the romantic taste for eros & thanatos, but a visceral thing, the malaise that transpires from the survivor who refuses to let himself be condemned, by the oppression of the system , to mark the end of his life. Exhibition of a skin-deep sensitivity, the echo of our shared nightmares, in a sound orgy. Journey through suffering. Cursed desperate, still laughing in the face of death ! Oscillation, like the flame that resists the night. Always on the verge of extinction, but still burning. Exorcism of emotion, ritual remains that are priceless. Fully aware of vanity, shouting not to be heard, but to hear that one is still alive. Aware that it is a downward spiral, the more darkness you feed on, the more darkness you invite into your life. Creative vicious circle that inevitably leads to the end. Isn’t life a form of agony ? Perhaps the exhibition of atrocities helps overcome damnation. Or maybe our pain can heal the wounds of the listener. Anyway, might as well have fun with the grace of those who know that life is a joke. When I talk of this album, because of the visual she chose to represent herself as Besançon’s “soeur sourire”, I call it the “black virgin”, I’m wrong, indeed the title is perfect, it is really the joy division, one side is in darkness, the other in the light. We are all walking on the borderline, and sometimes we slip… So don’t forget, don’t forget the fallen angels, because they are legion.

It seems that horsnorme music has always been too much gothic for experimental music audiences and too much experimental for gothic audiences. Britney25’s music is horsnorme, with no assigned place, always on the move, never where you expect it, cynical until the last moment… and beyond. It is a joy to welcome the latest offspring of this hyperactive outsider musician who refuses to return to her niche in the society of the spectacle.

By the way, a big fuck to the french governement which is trying to make the people work after their death… and the same way to be sure they have no time of life left to help the non-profit associations or any kind of non-governmental organizations. Their goal is clear, to erase any form of dissidence as well of margins, calling them separatism.

Anatoly Grinberg + Abell Leonid

“The birth of a quantum lamb”

Anatoly Grinberg + Abell Leonid – The birth of a quantum lamb – it is an act of diving into a disturbing time of change and pandemic in the 2020-2021 period.

Dreary soundscapes shaken by menacing impacts. Massive synthetic reefs. A noisy and rumbling beat against the background of warm and transparent melodies. Heavy landscapes pierced with layers of concrete music, as if the conductor has gone mad, and the musicians are playing on broken instruments, looking with hope at the rising sun of a new era of mercy… Beware! The dive can be endless.

Anatoly Grinberg (Tokee, Massaith, Dead Voices On Air) is from Israel/Russia, resident of labels ant-zen, Hymen, Mahorka, Furnace, and Leonid Churilov (A-BELL) is from Belarus and has released on ADX records group, SSI, The day of life for gotten and M.A.D. After online meeting, it was decided by both of musicians to record material for an album. Recording and mixing took place remotely in Moscow (Russia) and Minsk (Belarus), during the quarantine of 2020 – 2021. That is why this work can be considered a cast of that disturbing time. The authors found much in common in approaches and beliefs. Subsequently, the duo united under the common name TVAŃ and has contributed to various labels and publishers (Monumental (RU),No Devotion Records (USA), M.A.D. (Malta), АУМ (BY), Default Standard (Greece), E:\music\noise).

“Flashback”

The Necrophile Hummingbird netlabel presents Flashback by Yoshiwaku.

“Unexpected Music for wannabe livings”

About the surface of this album :

Another album was planned to begin the year, as a kind of wish, more focus on the way that to live for the living, to be aware in each choice of every form of life, and use this to drive toward blooming life,
seems a good solution to avoid the worst future become reality.
If it’s unclear, that means amongst other things breaking down competition, to avoid exclusion, exploitation, as well as spoliation, accumulation… Build up our own time and ethic through empathy.
This is mostly an idea to stop feed the power of the capitalism disease masters. It’s already what many friends do since a while, but often people ask : what can we do to stop the disaster ?

It seems too easy to say to stop to be yourself a disaster, rejoice inside and joy will flow outside, all this kind of new age stuff, but it’s obviously a more relevant way to change the situation than to face using the same tools and becoming another power instead to destroy the power at its roots.

So what make the difference is to reach really who you are first,
before to be able to improve your connection to the living.
That’s building a world made of alternatives instead of an uniformized world.
That’s why you can listen first this album, a kind of flashback to my inner being.

Dedicated to all the living beings from nature network, mothership earth.

Special thanks to Kinji Imanishi for being an early spring of these ideas.

PISITAKUN – Kongkraphan

PISITAKUN – Kongkraphan
[YESNO 102]

PISITAKUN

“Kongkraphan”

Thai musician and visual artist Pisitakun releases his new album “Kongkraphan”. The album will be released for free download on November 24th, 2022 by the Indonesian label Yes No Wave Music, which has released music from Gabber Modus Operandi, Raja Kirik, Senyawa, and Zoo.

In 2010, there was a protest by the Red Shirts, or United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD), to oust the government from the coup d’etat that occurred in 2006. At the protest, the rally was dispersed by armed soldiers, causing a large number of injuries and deaths.

The upcoming album ‘Kongkraphan’ —meaning Invulnerable— was made to present the forgotten voices and sounds of unjustified wrath. The sound used was taken from the video clips recorded by the demonstrators from the actual incidents. All video and audio clips are testimonies used in court proceedings to find the culprit at the time, so as to reveal the truth and restore justice to the deceased demonstrators. It’s a mix of Noise music: the confusion and sadness occurring at the protesting sites, the rhythm that shakes the nerves, the rhythm of intense rage.

In short, this album of Pisitakun contains a variety of anger, sadness, confusion, as well as the power of joy and hope to change the country —the driving force of the demonstration in 2010.

‘Kongkraphan’ is the name of a type of Thai talisman that gives the power to be invincible. In this album, the term stands for the ideology and battle of the people in the protest that has never faded. It’s still invulnerable, passing down the philosophy from generation to generation until today. There are 8 tracks with titles taken from the date of the protest events and arranged chronologically according to the time span of the incident.

PRISM – Top Budget

PRISM – Top Budget

PRISM

“Top Budget”

In February 2021, we released Christophe Bailleau’s EP “Persistance”, a collection of collaborations, including one with his own duet PRISM on the saturated “Paaattchheeffff”. About 15 references later, it is this project that gets the spotlight today, and associated with Billy Hasni on electric guitars, percussions and guttural vocals, the Belgian musician trades his shapeshifing and stellar electronica for some more abrasive and noisy inspiration, either psychedelic and tribal (“Trip Ritual”), ambient and insidious (“Top Budget”) or pulsating and radical (“Eat Heat Hit”), at the crossroads of industrial music, harsh noise and experimental metal. If you love this kind of exploration as extreme as it is immersive and capable of putting sound aggression at the service of atmosphere, you will certainly find in this album what you might admire in Throbbing Gristle, Wolf Eyes and more recently Duma or the fascinating futuristic noise of the Pharmafabrik label (Ontervjabbit, Cadlag …) : an organic and mutant universe of impressive density (“Usine”), and a taste for magnetic crescendos merging toxic shrillness, hypnotic larsens, obsessive synthetic pulsations and threatening guitar riffs to build the kind of narrative progressions that draw the listeners in their anxiety-provoking logic and take them to unknown territories, without mercy for the darkest folds of their imagination, like “Dinosaure” and its crushing 11 minutes of noise epic.

released November 14, 2022

Recorded at Budget Lab (Huy) during the Covid-19 period.

Christophe Bailleau : programmations, synthesizers, percussions, flute, voice, noises.
Billy Hasni : electric guitars, screaming, percussions, synth on “Top Budget”.

Lenard Ahmad – Nagual

Lenard Ahmad – Nagual
[pn055]

Lenard Ahmad

“Nagual”

So let’s talk about Ignacio Morales. About Leonardo Ahumada. About Nawito Dúo, which isn’t a dúo after all. About the baldy one in El Banco Mundial. About the baldest baldy in Ensamble Majamama. About the only man in Guorl Miusic.

Let’s talk about feedback. But not about electroacoustic feedback – extensively exerted by Nawito – but the one that presents a way of thinking (about) the music one makes when listening to it. That one where the cause is indistinguishable from the effect, where the effect is not necessarily predicated in the cause, where materials precede the shape that forms the materials.

Let’s listen to a jungle music – it’s impossible to avoid metaphores by now – born from José Vicente Asuar Guararia Repanoo; but it is not representing jungle, but coming from there. Infinite organisms in friction, superimposing each other in harmony. At the moment of listening, finding out what was acoustic, electroacoustic or digital is rendered useless in the first place, the jungle factory turns original, filtered or simulated indistinguishable, but the painstaking work which erected it sounds in its complexity, it is the making sounding.

Real hard work: let’s talk about fingers, nails, tact, epidermis of Nawito’s fingertips. That is – in David Tudor’ words – the most sensitive control point in a machine.

Apparati and their connections, colombina’s strings tension, diagrams, patches, springs and iron pieces, are temporary line-ups, nodes, pretexts, software; the operator that sets up and makes the machine, the real jungle territory. There are coagulations, geological faces, pressure points, complex detail zones, energies in the point of transformation, not choosing this or that way: a cave with countless leakage and drain pipes, thick, resounding tones – the wind blows outside the cave – feedback screeches, rumors from a beehive’s working mode, mechanisms rattling, the jingling of exotic birds which cannot be seen covered by the leaves, metal on metal (yes, in every sense of the word); white noise’s faceted roaring, the Mekano girls worn-out sticker; Providencia’s buzzing, hissing in unknown time; an unexpected ringtone; and the most remarkable, particular characterístic in music: a multiplicity of realms and activities, what was called polyphony in the good old days. The mystified concreteness of the on-screen software, where modules are connected, expanding and contracting, and the material proof of the tamed sound idea: a trompe and an mbira.

After almost a decade devoted to electroacous-tic music, Nawito, Leonardo, the ‘noise he-baby’, whoever he would be there inside him, makes news of headway in “Nagual”, not in a militant avant-garde fashion sense – please, let’s keep avant-garde requiescat in pace – but of a curious passerby carelessly strolling thru the park.

ANTEPOP & PIRATE Tapes – Acéphale

ANTEPOP & PIRATE Tapes – Acéphale
[LCNLP153]

ANTEPOP & PIRATE Tapes

“Acéphale”

ACEPHALE by ANTEPOP & PIRATE Tapes is an album created for Le Camembert Electrique netlabel camembertelectrique.bandcamp.com/ based on the self-titled french poetry review and hosting few other poems by Georges Bataille, available in free download here archive.org/details/ANTEPOP_PIRATE_Tapes_Acephale
For Flac and Wav formats it’s in paywhatyouwant zero include here camembertelectrique.bandcamp.com/album/ac-phale

The Acephalus includes the minotaur, Dionysus, Oedipus. He is an incarnation of the Nietzschean Superman. “He is not a man, he is not a god either, he is not me but he is more me than me”.
Acephalus recognized the intimate link between eroticism and death and he was able, thanks to that, to kill the father, to kill god, he cut off his head to have access to a higher lucidity and to obtain a belief.

This quote from ANTEPOP could suffice as a unique presentation of this album, yet I would detail a little its creation and its underlyings.

Was it chance that put Georges Bataille back in my path?
Years ago, I interpreted the Solar Anus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0oPNLBK9-U charmed by its transgressive dimension, without however pursuing the exploration of his work further. Then during the 2016 edition of Back To The Tree event I discovered the existence of Acéphale thanks to a conference by Laurent Devèze https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4AosZvpo4E more enthused under the trappings of this strange cult is the back-to-nature dimension relatively similar to Henry David Thoreau’s Walden. Poetry is a sensitive tool for connecting to the universe and in the era of screen partitioning this reminder seems relevant to me. Also since the creation of the french website for the review “Le Grand Jeu” morne.free.fr/celluledessites/Game/index.htm it’s been my hobby to exhume the poetic journals that have emerged in over time in France. So after the review “Discontinuity” archive.org/details/pirate_tapes_discontinuite it made sense that PIRATE Tapes presents some excerpts from the review “Acéphale” accompanied by other poems by Georges Bataille. Also we are very happy that the lyrics are in french language, because despite the audience for musical experiments is very small here, it matters a lot to be able to use our native language in our music. If you want to get the english translations seems it’s findable online.

Originally, because of many affinities, I wanted to make an album in collaboration with ANTEPOP for Le Camembert Electrique. Hence the titles taking up the process of making the cancoillotte, just to not take ourselves too seriously and thus enjoy greater creative freedom. A first piece was extracted from this improvisation session and was completed by a field recording in order to participate in the Phonographies compilation camembertelectrique.bandcamp.com/album/v-a-3 This process therefore imposed itself as obvious for the development of the other tracks on the album. It is also the only track that has not been supplemented by poems. Curiously at the beginning we had recorded poems by Apollinaire, it was only later that the paths of intuition led us to prefer those of Georges Bataille. The verses of the unpublished Acéphale questioned me a lot, to the point that I hesitate to include it, but I preferred not to censor it and leave everyone free to make their own interpretation. It may be interesting to keep in tune with the present time, bringing hope and serenity, when its qualities are sorely lacking in the world in which we live. But it would be to misunderstand the mere revealing nature of art to seek to polarize it. It seems to me vital to preserve the roughness, the wanderings of thought, all that for me makes sense in the writings of Bataille is precisely to confront the monstrosities to question our dark side and perceive our deep non-dual nature. For me in everyone is the universe, all the good as all the bad, it is our choices that guide us, our actions that define us. Hence, the importance of the presence of monsters in fiction, like in the subconscious, not only allows them to be contained, but is also a space that allows them to be studied without real risk, like a virtual box machine that allows you to test a potentially dangerous executable. It is not by sanitizing the past, by practicing censorship, by concealing the traces of obscurantism that one can protect oneself from it*. On the contrary, it is by allowing us to experience confronting ourselves with what bothers us and therefore to train ourselves knowingly, that we can develop a critical mind that makes possible a future that does not reproduce the past mistakes.
As for the Acéphale, if my heteronym Ed End has the same meaning, it is not for nothing and that explains why it was difficult for me not to interfere more than I would have liked in the ANTEPOP part of this album. So which is actually more a kind of antepop ante-pirate tapes participation. Isn’t a part of the reason one loses one’s head to try to know the others better?

* Just to be clear, I specify that as much as I find it dangerous to rewrite past fiction as much as I find it necessary to intervene in the public space because in this case it is a question of putting an end to the glorification of monsters. Although my creative vision would be rather than destroying a statue of Colbert to put in front of it a statue of a slave who breaks his chains.
